About data centres and Goodman
What is a data centre?
Data centres are the foundation of the digital services that daily life runs on: cashless payments, bank ATMs, government services. By keeping essential data and systems running around the clock, they support households, businesses and public services, and play a critical role in disasters.
Like electricity, water and roads, data centres have become essential infrastructure for a safe, convenient society.
Your digital day (an example)
A data centre supports all these everyday moments.
What is inside the building?
- Servers: the heart of it, processing everything from payments to telehealth bookings, floor by floor.
- Air handling & rooftop chillers: cooling the servers, using industrial water from a new dedicated supply.
- UPS & backup generators: keeping services running through outages; generators live indoors and run only in outages and daytime tests.
- Acoustic walls and intake silencer boxes: noise-generating plant is installed inside acoustically insulated buildings or fitted with sound-insulation measures.
